Hello Teachers!
One the biggest joys of working on MathStart has been meeting so many terrific, dedicated, inspired and inspiring educators. I have learned – and continue to learn – so much!
Although I certainly hope you find all of the website interesting, this section has a few features that may be especially useful for you. There are lists of
books sorted by Skills and by National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
Standards. There are also lists of
Educational Book Distributors and Independent Bookstores Offering Educator Discounts (which are on the same page, so page down!)
There are a few other pages on the elsewhere on the site I would also like to flag:
In addition to two pages of activity ideas at the back of every MathStart book, there is short list of storybooks by other authors the cover similar material. I always figure that if children like to learn through stories, give them more stories! We have now put these lists together in
Math Bibliographies. As an added bonus, there is an extra version of the Pre-K bibliography that has been correlated to the Washington D.C. Pre-K standards.
Finally, on the
For Booksellers & Librarians page, there are pdf’s for Family Math Night graphics, along with a downloadable order forms. Viewed online, the book titles in the pdf are live links to book description pages on the website. We do not sell books on the website, so these are forms you would have to download, fill in and take to your favorite bookseller, who can special order any title that may not be on the shelf.
Thank you again for all your support over the years!
p.s. As always, if you have any neat ideas for math activities based on the books, please share! Send them to
feedback@stuartjmurphy.com.
